On a glorious first day of the year the challenge match between the New Captain Geoff Cox and the 2012 Captain Steve Edwards ended in a victory for the new incumbent. Although the match ended 4-3 the result was never in doubt as the four of the first five matches all went the way of the winners.

Charles Bradshaw beat Tony Roxburgh 5&4, Geoff Cox and Robert Megaw trounced Steve Edwards and Paul Barrow by the same score. Graham Wright then beat Karen Huxtable and her Dad. Tony Seal did start but he was not a well man having arrived home in a bit of a state, lost his house keys and had to sleep in his garden! Bob Coe and Malcolm Cooke got one back by beating Bill Goodwin and Mel Huxtable only for the past Captains side to be dealt the final blow with Wim Hofmann and Paula Luijt beating Jim Rose and Jeff Young. The final matches were won by Don Simpson and Marie Utterly who beat fellow spouses Martyn and Ruth. Last and by no means least the final four eventually came in with a win for Mark Ellerton and Mick Girling against Liam Carroll and Dave Tweed.
