CAPTAINS FINAL REPORT FOR 2015
Good Morning/Afternoon I hope you all had a merry Christmas and new year.
As this is my last report as your Captain I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support throughout my year and wish you all a Happy New Year and enjoy your golf.
I started my year hoping to perhaps please 70% of the membership knowing it’s not possible to please everyone all of the time. (And I hope I have managed that?).
My year seems to have flown by my last function as Captain is to putt out next Saturday on the 18th green at the Captains Drive in before handing over to next year’s Captain Peter Chapman who will drive off the first tee.
Not much has changed since my last report so I will keep this final report as brief as possible but there are thanks to various people I must make including all you members.
Results Men's Gold and Silver Divisions (split=14.1) and Ladies Division. Overall position is in Column 1
Congratulations to our 3 divisional winners: Bill Clarkson, with a magnificent 47 pts - 71(net 60)including 5 birdies, Stuart Walker with a fantastic 39points and Christine Arnes who had 37 points. Honourable mentions go to Chris Price with 40 pts and James Kinnear with shot a fabulous 71 including 4 birdies.

Peter was born in 1956 in to Welsh parents in Corby, Northants, his father working in the steel works at that time. When he was 6 years old the family moved back “home” to Old Colwyn a village in North Wales and he attended school there until he went to The Polytechnic of Wales in South Wales. He gained technical/engineering qualifications in the Gas industry. He was mainly concerned with operational management during these early days but later he transferred to the “dark side” of commercialism and negotiations.

On a lovely sunny December Day in the Algarve 36 SdM Ladies and guests played in this Annual Ladies Christmas event.
The event a Seattle Shambles organized by Eileen Groves proved to be another successful golf and fun day had by all.
followed by the usual very Merry Christmas Lunch in the Clubhouse at the Amendoeira Golf Resort which extended late into the evening.
Lots of prizes were on offer many sponsored by the ladies and guest's but the Team of the day and winning by two clear points were:
1st Wendy Emrich, Amy Bray, Jo Ounstead and Kerstin Staeck with 117 Points
2nd Marieke Hofmann, Lydia Harriman, Yvonne Pyper and Sue Goodwin 115 points
3rd Gill Edwards, Janet Bell, Dot Forrester and Helena Sterner 115 points on c/b
After the lunch Eileen was presented with a lovely Bracelet and Earring set from the Ladies for all her hard work through out the year.

Pinta Clubhouse was again our venue for the Annual Christmas Party. Another fantastic turnout with fine Christmas Fayre and music followed by some lively dancing!
As is customary the out going Captain Ray Groves spent time thanking all those members who have worked hard to make his year a successful and enjoyable one. Without doubt SdM is a better club now than ever before and it continues to improve. Ray announced he had raise over €1600 for his choosen charity Madrugarda and presented Robert Magaw with a checque.
Well done to all the winners of this year's Christmas Hamper Competition. The full results can be seen below.
The second round of the 2015/16 Fermon Trophy was played at Gramacho on Monday 7th December. The good conditions and the forward placement of a number of the Men’s tee boxes meant the scoring in general was extremely good. The day did not start off well for SdM as Gwynne Jones had to withdraw at late notice but fortunately Captain Ray Groves agreed to step into the breach and following a shuffle of some of the pairings the team went about their business.
